Prayer for Provision, Contentment, and Strength

Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means and I know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learrned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. ~Philippians 4:11-13

Oh Lord, I didn't know it would be this hard. I have nothing, O Lord. Nothing, but you. I am at the end of myself. All of my resources. Lord, I am in want. I need your provision. Oh Lord, as I study this text, I see that the apostle Paul lived in the same circumstance as I now find myself. Oh God, help me to find contentment. Help me to be content despite this momentary trial. Lord, this momentary trial seems like an eternity. As the Psalmist often asks, "Oh Lord, How Long?" How Long will it last Oh God? How Long until I am not suffering. God, I need your gracious provision, but Lord, give me a supernatural contentment that only comes from you.

Lord, it is Christ who gives me strength to continue to move forward. God, give me strength. I feel that I can't go on. I can't bear it anymore. Oh God, but you bore it on the cross. Your Son bore my suffering on the cross at Calvary. Give me His strength. Strengthen me through Christ Oh Lord.

Lord, even in the trials, Lord I trust in you. Even through the tears, I look to you, Oh God. Even through the momentary suffering, I have confidence in You Alone, Oh God. Hear your servant, and answer my supplication.

Trust in God

Oh Lord...you know my steps, for you have ordered them before you created the world! You have appointed the time and place that I would live! Lord, you have revealed to me so much of your plan. Lord, I don't know what lies ahead, but the future is no surprise to you. Lord, I commit my way to you. I willingly place my lif in your hands and trust you wholeheartedly. Bring me to where you want me to be. Show me where I am to go, what I am to do, and who is to be there with me. I can only trust in you, for you alone are worthy to be trusted and to be praised.

The Command to Love

As the Father has love me, so have I loved you. John 15:9

This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:13

O God, by your Spirit, may these truths reach to the uttermost depths of my soul! Jesus Christ, you have loved me with the same love that the Father has loved you for all of eternity. What a profound and humbling reality. Jesus, you are holy and pure and are very much deserving of the eternal love of the Father. O, but I am an unrighteous sinner! How often do I bask in my own sinfulness instead of resting in your glory? Yet, by your grace, you have loved me with the same infinite love the Father has loved you. How undeserving am I of this infinite, gracious love? Oh, but you do not want us to stop with that comforting thought. With that, Lord Jesus, you have commanded us to reflect that same love to the world around us. Again, my sinfulness is made known because of my failure to uphold your commandment. You loved us with the Father's love because of your union with the Father. My failure to love with your love lies in my failure to Abide in You, to Abide in Christ. My failure to love with a Christlike love is proof that my relationship and fellowship to you Lord Jesus is far from where it needs to be. Lord, do for me what I cannot do for myself. Bring me into a closer fellowship with you. Cleanse me of my unrighteousness and forgive me of my disobedience to your command to love. Thank you for loving me O gracious Lord, and enable me to love others the same.

Living in Right Relationship to God

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. ~Matthew 6:33

Heavenly Father, by your Spirit enable me to understand your word today and apply it to my life. Lord, open my eyes that I may seek first your kingdom. Lord, give me the strength to submit to your authority as sovereign king over my life. Oh great God, enable me to be a bold witness of the cause of Christ as I seek to proclaim your gospel as your ambassador for the furtherance of your kingdom. Lord reveal to me in your word exactly how my life fits into the overall plan of your kingdom. Father, enable me to seek your righteousness. Help me to understand that through the work of Christ on the cross, my sins are imputed to Christ and His righteousness is imputed to me. Help me to know that I stand as positionally righteous before your eyes because of what Christ has done on the cross in my behalf. Father, by your Spirit, enable me to pursue righteous living as I seek to conform to the image of Christ out of a lifestyle of obedience for what you have so graciously done for me. Father, enlighten my mind to understand that by living in right relationship to you, you will willingly provide for all of my needs so that I need not worry about daily provision. Help me to seek to live in right relationship to you to bring you glory as my utmost priority as I trust in your gracious and merciful provision for my life! I give you all of the glory, honor, and the praise!

The Prayer of a Faithless Christian

"But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tommorow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?" Matthew 6:30

Lord, I confess my faithlessness to you. God, you are so faithful, yet I remain so faithless. Your word tells me you know my needs. In your word, you promise to supply them. God, how faithless am I? Cleanse me of my unrighteousness. Cleanse me O gracious Lord of my faithlessness. Lord, in my mind I believe in your sovereignty, yet I do not commit myself to trusting in it with my heart. Forgive me Lord for not trusting in you. I am so faithless when you are so faithful. Forgive me for worrying about money and things, because I know it only brings dishonor to your holy and sovereign name. Lord, I cry out to you for your providence! Lord hear my prayer! God, help me to seek first the kingdom of God and Your Righteousness. For when these things are my priority, you will supply my needs. Lord I believe, but O God, help me in my unbelief! Give me strength when I am weak. Give me peace when I am in turmoil. Give me joy in suffering! Give me faith when I am so faithless! To you be the glory and the honor and the praise!
